Job Summary

We are seeking a committed and socially aware Social Safeguards Officer to ensure that all projects are implemented in a socially responsible manner. The role involves managing social risks, engaging with communities, and ensuring compliance with social safeguard policies and standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and monitor social impacts of projects and operations
  • Develop and implement Social Management Plans (SMPs)
  • Conduct social impact assessments and baseline studies
  • Engage with local communities, stakeholders, and vulnerable groups
  • Address community concerns, grievances, and conflicts effectively
  • Ensure compliance with national and international social safeguard standards
  • Support resettlement planning and livelihood restoration where applicable
  • Prepare social safeguard reports and documentation
  • Promote inclusive participation and stakeholder engagement
  • Monitor labor practices and ensure ethical standards are upheld

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Social Work, Human Geography, Sociology, Anthropology, or a related social science field
  • Minimum of 2–3 years relevant work experience
  • Experience in social impact assessments and community engagement
  • Strong understanding of social safeguard policies and frameworks
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work with diverse communities and stakeholders
