Responsibilities or duties

This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.

Key responsibilities includes:

  • Oversee all Kansanshi truck park to ensure safe and healthy environment, safe operations, manage truck stay and proper maintenance of truck park facilities
  • Coordinate Metal Sales truck logistics on Site by coordinating truck movements with relevant stakeholders including transporters, Smelter/ Process Plant team, Safety and weighbridge officers
  • Oversee the planning of anode/ acid truck loading according to allocation
  • Coordinate the planning and management of the receiving of concentrate trucks from Trident and external third-party deliveries to improve truck turnaround time on Site
  • Coordinate the planning and management of truck logistics of acid purchases to improve truck turnaround time on Site
  • Coordinate truck logistics to optimise the loading of anode trucks in line with available site inventory and customer allocation in a safe manner
  • Develop and manage a system to monitor truck stay and movement on Site with a view to reporting and controlling Site truck logistics
  • Manage Mineman System to ensure proper creation of parcel and timely closure of transactions
  • Monitor effectiveness of weighbridge control system through accurate reporting by highlighting any failures or discrepancies
  • Effective and efficient monitoring of systems for stock inventory and loading process
  • Oversee the timely reconciliations of products receipts and dispatches with relevant stakeholders;
  • Assist with the issuing of customers’ provisional invoices in line with reconciled and agreed tonnages
  • Managing finalizations of all the provisional invoices based on different quotational periods and final assays;
  • Manage transporter relationships and ensure all transporter queries/ issues are attended to timeously.
  • Reporting directly to Metal Sales Superintendent

Safety Management

  • Ensure safety in all Kansanshi truck parks
  • Coordinate truck logistics on Site in a safe manner and ensure drivers undergo proper safety induction
  • Taking active role implementing Safety standards in sections of Metal Sales areas in approved standard operating procedures
  • Ensuring and checking drivers are working in compliance with Standard Operating Procedure, KMP Safety requirements and Security procedures

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

All academic qualifications and results must be verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA). 

Experience needed

Full time in a job-related to Metal Sales and Logistics or equivalent with over 10 years of related experience senior management; or a combination of education and experience

Any other provided details (e.g., benefits, work environment, team info, or additional notes)

Analytical skills and working with volumes of data

Developing and managing systems

Demonstration of managing and maintaining safety in mobile operations

Up-to-date knowledge of relevant Zambian laws and regulations (e.g. Custom regulations, logistics laws etc.)

Good command of the English Language (speaking and writing)

Proficiency in MS Excel and Word

Excellent interpersonal skills
