Job Summary
We are looking for a Stock Manager / Warehouse Assistant who will be responsible for managing, recording, monitoring, and controlling company stock. The successful candidate will handle the receiving and issuing of stock, stock counts, inventory records, and computer-based stock management.
The ideal candidate should be computer literate, highly organised, accurate, responsible, and comfortable working with spreadsheets and inventory management systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive incoming stock and verify quantities against invoices, delivery notes, and purchase orders.
- Record all incoming stock accurately into the company's computerised stock system.
- Issue and record outgoing stock to authorised staff, departments, customers, or branches.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records.
- Conduct regular physical stock counts and reconcile physical stock with computer records.
- Identify and report stock shortages, excesses, damages, discrepancies, or missing items.
- Ensure all stock is properly labelled, organised, and stored.
- Monitor stock levels and notify management when stock needs to be replenished.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly stock reports when required.
- Keep proper records of stock movements, including incoming, outgoing, returned, damaged, and transferred stock.
- Assist with stock audits and investigations into stock discrepancies.
- Ensure stock is released only with proper authorisation and documentation.
- Maintain a clean, secure, and organised warehouse environment.
- Assist with loading, unloading, arranging, and moving stock when required.
- Ensure high-value and sensitive items are properly secured.
- Perform any other warehouse and inventory-related duties assigned by management.
Computer & Inventory Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to use a computer on a daily basis to:
- Enter and update stock quantities.
- Record incoming and outgoing stock.
- Maintain digital inventory records.
- Use Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet software.
- Prepare stock reports.
- Track stock movements and discrepancies.
- Search and retrieve inventory information quickly and accurately.
- Communicate stock information with other departments.
Requirements
- Grade 12 certificate or equivalent.
- Previous experience in stock management, warehousing, inventory control, or a similar position is an advantage.
- Good computer skills are essential.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to accurately enter and maintain data on a computer.
- Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills.
- Ability to count and reconcile stock accurately.
- Good communication and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Honest, reliable, and trustworthy.
- Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Physically capable of assisting with warehouse activities, including moving and arranging stock.
Preferred Skills
- Experience using stock/inventory management software.
- Experience handling electronics, mobile phones, spare parts, batteries, or other high-value products.
- Basic knowledge of stock control and inventory procedures.
- Good Excel skills, including sorting, filtering, and basic formulas.

The Stock Manager / Warehouse Assistant will be assessed based on:
