Since its founding in 1983, NDI and its local partners have worked to establish and strengthen political and civic organizations, safeguard elections, and promote citizen participation, openness and accountability in government. NDI will work in Zambia to support democratic institutions, including political parties, better able to engage with stakeholders and citizens on national policy, legislation development and citizen concerns and priorities

Subgrants Officer
The Subgrants Officer will provide day-to-day support to the Finance and Administration Manager in developing, monitoring and reporting on subgrants. Please note that the hiring of this position is dependent upon additional funds becoming available. .

Essential duties:
• Assist with NDI Zambia’s subgrant programs, budget, and contractual relationships with multiple subgrantees.
• Review subgrantees’ financial and narrative reports for accuracy and completeness.
• Work closely with subgrantees to review and resolve queries on financial and narrative reports.
• Work with program leads to monitor partner deliverables and aid program leads to address any shortfalls.
• Assist with training and mentoring of local partners to increase their financial management capacity.
• Assist program leads and monitoring and evaluation staff in training and mentoring of local partners to produce better narrative reports, inclusive of providing documentation of program activities and describing achievements.
• Ensure compliance with NDI and donor requirements.
• Assist with drafting of regular internal reports on the status of subgrants and reporting compliance of subgrantees.
• Maintain the strictest compliance with Covid-19 mitigation protocols at all times, as directed by the Country Director and/or the Finance and Administration Manager.
• Assist with other tasks related to financial reporting, as assigned by the Finance and Administration Manager.

Education & Experience:
• Diploma or equivalent in finance, accounting or related field.
• At least 2 years relevant work experience in finance, accounting and operations.
• Knowledge of USAID and/or FCDO rules and regulations related to subgrants, accounting and other financial matters.
• Sound knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and accounting software systems.
