ROLE OVERVIEW
To coordinate, supervise and ensure the safe operation, monitoring, maintenance and regulatory compliance of the Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs) at both the Kabwe and RCC sites. The coordinator ensures compliance with the Tailings Operations Manual, engineering designs, statutory requirements and company standards while protecting people, the environment and the integrity of the facilities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate daily TSF operations at both sites (Kabwe and Ndola).
- Supervise TSF Operators and allocate work.
- Ensure tailings deposition follows approved plans.
- Coordinate water management, reclaim systems and freeboard control.
- Conduct and review daily, weekly and monthly TSF inspections.
- Inspect embankments, decant structures, spillways, drains, pipelines, pumps and monitoring systems.
- Identify and report seepage, erosion, cracks, settlement and other defects.
- Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements, company standards and the Tailings Operations Manual.
- Support EPF audits, regulatory inspections and Engineer of Record recommendations.
- Conduct risk assessments and emergency preparedness drills.
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly TSF operational and inspection reports.
- Liaise with Engineering, Production, Maintenance, HSE and regulators.
PREFERRED CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
- Tailings Storage Facility/Dam Safety training.
- Membership with EIZ.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in civil engineering, mine infrastructure or TSF management.
- Tailings management experience.
- Experience with GISTM, Engineer of Record recommendations and water balance management.
