Background
Mafisa is strengthening climate-smart, productive pastoralist livelihoods in Zambia’s poorest and most climate-impacted regions. We are developing a replicable, profitable model that will help traditional cattle-raising communities to increase ownership, improve herd health and adopt regenerative rangeland management, and create fair market opportunities so they will have larger, more sustainable incomes.
The Technician Drilling and Data Collection is responsible for supporting and assisting the drilling crew in the drilling of water wells and the exploration of groundwater

Key Responsibilities
Drilling
• Oversee drilling equipment’s setup, operation, and maintenance, ensuring efficient and accurate data collection.
• Lead and coordinate a team of drilling technicians and data collectors, providing guidance and support.
• Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
• Monitor drilling progress and data collection activities, analyse data, and prepare detailed site reports.
• Ensure all drilling and data collection equipment is properly maintained and troubleshoot any issues.

Data Collection and Reporting
• Help with the preparation of drilling reports
• Completing paperwork associated with drilling operations, such as operations time sheets, borehole sample sheets, inventory sheets etc.
• Performing administrative tasks such as ordering supplies or maintaining records of inventory.
• Completion of daily and weekly checklists and adhere to maintenance system of machinery.
• Ensure the safety and operational procedures are in place for both the Mafisa drilling team and the community members in a manner consistent with HSSE policies

Requirements and Qualifications
• Diploma in Water Resources, Construction Management or related disciplines
• Certificate in Drilling or related disciplines
