The Warehouse Operator is responsible for executing standardized warehouse operations in compliance with company procedures and industry standards within the mining and construction/OEM industry. The role focuses on materials handling, stock control, operations stores management, and the safe transport of items or stock, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to safety, health, and environmental (SHE) policies.

1. Key Responsibilities

A. Safety, Health & Environment

  • Adhere to all company SHE policies and procedures.
  • Operate material handling equipment (forklifts, cranes, etc.) safely
  • Store and handle hazardous materials properly.
  • Report safety incidents or hazards immediately.
  • Participate in safety meetings and drills.

B. Materials Handling

  • Receive, unpack, and verify stock.
  • Check items for damage and discrepancies.
  • Execute picking, packing, and dispatch accurately.
  • Maintain warehouse cleanliness and organization.

C. Stock Control and Inventory Management

  • Participate in regular and ad-hoc stock counts.
  • Record stock data accurately in the ERP/WMS system.
  • Report stock discrepancies promptly.

D. Operations Stores Management

  • Receive and issue components and tools.
  • Maintain tool registers and ensure proper storage.
  • Monitor and replenish consumables as needed.

E. Transport of Items / Stock

  • Safely transport stock or courier materials between sites.’
  • Conduct vehicle pre-checks and complete log sheets.
  • Report any vehicle incidents or damages.

F. New Machine and Attachment Stock Monitoring

  • Receive and inspect new machines and attachments.
  • Maintain proper documentation and stock records.
  • Keep the yard organized and report damages immediately.

2. Entry-Level Requirements

  • Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
  • Diploma in Warehousing, Supply Chain, or Logistics from a TEVETA-accredited institution or equivalent vocational qualification.
  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant warehouse experience, preferably in mining, construction, or OEM operations.
  • Valid Zambian Driver’s License.
  • Basic computer literacy; experience with ERP/WMS systems (SAP, MS D365) is an advantage.
  • Training in equipment handling (forklift, crane, etc.) is preferred.

3. Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

  • Understanding of warehouse operations and logistics.
  • Familiarity with ISO Standards and OHS Act.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and attention to detail.
  • Teamwork and collaboration.
  • Effective communication (verbal and written).
  • Results orientation and decision-making.
  • Ability to maintain high work standards.

4. Personal Attributes & Requirements

  • Integrity, honesty, and professionalism.
  • Dependable, punctual, and proactive.
  • Works well under minimal supervision.
  • Physically fit and able to lift items.
