Background

One Acre Fund is seeking a dedicated Zambia Procurement Coordinator to oversee the entire procurement lifecycle, ensuring the efficient sourcing of goods and services that align with organizational goals. This role demands a strategic approach to supplier management, market research, and negotiation to secure the best value for money, while maintaining timely delivery and clear communication across teams.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing & Market Research: Conduct ongoing market research to secure competitive pricing and expand the supplier base. Analyze market trends to quantify financial savings and establish direct partnerships, eliminating intermediaries.

Purchasing & Negotiation: Manage the full purchase cycle including RFQs, supplier evaluation, and selection. Negotiate favorable pricing and payment terms, coordinating with Finance to ensure timely supplier payments. Support specialized category management initiatives.

Deliveries and Stakeholder Communication: Ensure goods and services are delivered on schedule. Maintain accurate procurement documentation and provide proactive updates to internal clients to enhance satisfaction.

Systems, Processes & Catalog Management: Collaborate on procurement planning and process improvements to boost efficiency. Maintain the Zambia Vendor Catalog with regular data updates and audits, streamlining vendor records by removing inactive entries.

Qualifications and Experience

Ideal candidates will possess:

  • A degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related discipline.
  • A valid practicing license from the Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply (ZIPS).
  • At least three years of professional procurement experience.
  • Proficiency with SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Zambian procurement regulations and market dynamics.

Core Competencies:

  • Strong strategic negotiation skills to secure advantageous terms.
  • Data-driven decision-making using market analysis to optimize savings.
