About Wuchi Wami
Wuchi Wami Limited is a Zambian honey company established in 2018. Wuchi Wami sources sustainably harvested honey from the Miombo forests of North-Western Province through a network of more than 3,600 community beekeepers. Its honey is sold through leading Zambian retailers and exported to five countries. Wuchi Wami trains beekeepers, provides top-bar hives and connects farmers to a market for their honey.
Our Growth
Wuchi Wami is expanding its beekeeper network across North-Western Province and plans to recruit and train an additional 3,000 farmers in sustainable beekeeping, legume farming and agribusiness, with a strong focus on young women and youth. Farmers receive hives and protective equipment, are organised into cooperatives, and are linked to markets and financial services through a digital traceability platform.
To support this expansion, Wuchi Wami is recruiting six Field Extension Officers.
Role Purpose
Field Extension Officers will serve as the primary link between Wuchi Wami and farmers in their assigned communities. Based in their designated duty stations, they will mobilise and support farmers from recruitment and training through to their first harvests. Key Responsibilities

- Identify, recruit and register new farmers, with particular attention to young women, youth, persons with disabilities and refugees.
- Engage community leaders, women’s groups and youth structures to support inclusive participation, and help ensure meetings are held at accessible times and locations.
Training and cooperative development
- Support external facilitators to deliver training in sustainable beekeeping, legume farming, agribusiness and financial literacy.
- Assist farmers to establish and register cooperatives, including supporting leadership elections and the adoption of basic governance practices.
Hive deployment and extension support
- Coordinate the distribution of beehives and personal protective equipment (PPE) and oversee appropriate hive settings and installation.
- Conduct regular farm visits and coach farmers on bee-colony management, harvesting and post-harvest handling in line with organic and quality standards.
- Provide guidance on legume production and help coordinate produce offtake with relevant partners.
Honey aggregation and quality assurance
- Organise honey collection schedules and support aggregation at community level and at the aggregation centre.
- Monitor honey quality and promptly report risks, including contamination, side-selling, and pest or disease outbreaks.
Data collection, traceability and monitoring
- Capture and update farmer profiles, geo-tagged hive locations, production volumes and quality data using the company tablet and digital traceability platform.
- Support farmer surveys and collect evidence on farmer incomes and livelihoods for programme monitoring and impact reporting.

Financial inclusion and safeguarding
- Connect farmers with financial service providers partnered with Wuchi Wami.
- Comply with safeguarding requirements and refer grievances, incidents or concerns through the appropriate reporting channels.
