Summary:
The work schedule for this position is:
o Full Time (40 number of hours per week)
o Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (6 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Duties
The Grants Coordinator works with the designated USDH Grants Officer under the supervision of the USDH Political Unit Chief to administer the Small Grants Program, Africa Regional Democracy Fund, Ambassador’s Special Self-Help (SSH) grants program, Julia Taft Fund and any other Department grant programs that may be allocated to the Political/Economic (Pol-Econ) Section. The Grants Coordinator is also responsible for records management and research on a range of issues within the political and economic portfolio including, but not limited to: elections and political parties, migration and refugees, anti-corruption, and human rights.

Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: At least three years of work experience in business, program management and/or analyzing economic developments is required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Job holder should have a detailed knowledge of Department of State rules and regulations and relevant FAMS; overseas grant management, US Mission to Zambia regulations, policies, procedures, and guidance. Good working knowledge of local and international organizations involved in charitable and developmental work within Zambia and good Working knowledge of Zambia’s political and economic environment.

Education Requirements:
A university degree in economics, finance, communications, management/administration, international development/ relations, or business is required.
Evaluations:
LANGUAGE: Fluent in English writing, Reading and Speaking

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to prepare clear, concise, and accurate briefing materials on a range of political and economic issues. Ability to organize and execute moderately complex projects. Ability to maintain a wide range of contacts in the host government and private sector. Ability to write and communicate effectively. Basic knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required. Basic typing skills required.

Agency Benefits:
Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Lusaka/Zambia may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.
For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.
The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
