Job Summary:

Provide leadership and coordination in the administrative, business planning, accounting and budgeting efforts of ASA Microfinance Zambia. The Head of Operations will be responsible for enhancing the internal organization processes and infrastructure that will allow ASA Zambia to continue to grow and fulfill its mission.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervision of all Regional Managers, Area Managers and Branch Managers.
  • Oversee day-to-day branch operations.
  • Drive business growth through market activations
  • Maintain and optimize operational costs
  • Maintain adequate head count in all branches
  • Develop a best practice framework bench marked against competitors
  • Provide for all staff a strong day-to-day leadership presence and Instill a human capital development and “coaching” culture..
  • Cultivate the ASA Zambia values within the organization.
  • Provide for adequate supervision and evaluation of staff.
  • Ensure compliance with laws and regulations applicable to ASA’s operations and reporting requirements.
  • Initiate and assist in developing policy recommendations and in setting priorities.
  • Implement and maintain appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for controls, maintaining and exceeding quality standards, employee management, ensuring departments stay on budget, rolling out products in a timely manner, installing policies and procedures to make ASA run smoother and more efficiently, as well as removing bottlenecks from one segment of the operation which might impede the productivity of another.
  • Implement and maintain appropriate internal control safeguards.
  • Responsible of business development.
  • Identify geographic growth opportunities and priorities.
  • Responsible for implementing strategies and operational plans for ASA to ensure growth and profitability.
  • Optimize internal processes and resources to meet growth demands while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction and service.
  • Lead management efforts, as well as strategic and operational approaches to delivering exceptional and innovative services.
  • Must have an overall knowledge of the business and must have the foresight to see how the smaller pieces fit into the bigger picture.
  • Responsible for implementing and managing the business plans and the annual budget
  • Drive cost reduction and containment efforts to service delivery, while encouraging innovative solutions.
  • Deliver measurable, cost-effective results.
  • Oversee reporting and monitoring of organizational performance ratios and results.
  • Manage changes in digitalization
  • Responsible of the quality of the loan’s portfolio.
  • Manage the preparation of reports for the CEO and the Board.
  • Ensure the follow-up of the performance indicators and take the necessary corrective action.
  • Analyze monthly result and compare them to budget and objectives. Variation must be documented and reported to the CEO.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Operations Management, or a related field. Master’s degree in relevant field, an added advantage
  • 5-10 years’ proven experience in a similar role in MFI, FINTECH, Telecom & Banking will be added advantage
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Strong problem-solving ability
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
