JOB DETAILS:
2 Blaster
Description
• Carry out primary and secondary blasting operations that ensure the required fragmentation is achieved with minimum downstream re-handling at a low powder factor in compliance with the safety and environmental requirements
• Handle, store and transport explosives and accessories in accordance with regulations and ensure that safety procedures are observed.
• Comply with the necessary safety and environmental regulations associated with handling and storage of explosives.
• Collection of drilling samples, hole marking, explosives cord tie up and explosives feed into blast holes and other blasting related activities
• Participate in planning and execution of blasting and drilling operations to ensure generation of target quantities of required blends of limestone
• Direct the Drill Rig Operator to drill according to planned pattern and inspect the volume and quality of blast holes drilled
• Charge the optimum volume of stemming and explosive material to achieve the required fragmentation at a low powder factor
• Completion of blasting material usage sheet and other documentation required

Requirements
• Full Grade 12 School Certificate
• A Valid First Aid Certificate.
• Holder of a Valid MSD Certified Blasting License
• Minimum 3 years of operating experience in drilling and blasting
