JOB DETAILS:

The Utility Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining utility systems such as boilers, chillers, air compressors, water treatment units, HVAC systems, and power distribution equipment. The role ensures the continuous and safe supply of essential utilities to support plant operations, adhering to safety, environmental, and operational standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, readings, and checks on utility systems and log performance data.
• Troubleshoot and report abnormalities or equipment malfunctions.
• Carry out minor maintenance tasks and assist maintenance teams during breakdowns or scheduled maintenance.
• Monitor chemical dosing and maintain proper parameters for water and wastewater systems.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards and procedures.
• Assist in energy conservation efforts by monitoring efficiency and reporting areas for improvement.
• Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping of the utility areas.
• Participate in shift handovers and ensure accurate communication of operational status.

Minimum Requirements – Education, Experience and Skills

• Grade 12 Certificate
• Diploma / Associate Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or relevant field
• 2–5 years of experience operating industrial utility systems in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
• Experience with boiler operation, chillers, water treatment, or compressed air systems is preferred.
• Strong understanding of utility systems operation and basic maintenance.
• Ability to read gauges, meters, P&ID drawings, and control panels.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with CMMS systems.
• Knowledge of safety procedures related to utility operations.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work in shifts and respond to emergency situations.
