JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose:
To prepare surfaces and install ceramic, porcelain, marble, quarry, and mosaic tiles on walls, floors, countertops, and other surfaces. The Tiler ensures a precise, level, and visually perfect finish.
Key Responsibilities:
- Measure and mark surfaces to determine the layout of tiles.
- Prepare surfaces by leveling, cleaning, and applying waterproofing or primer compounds.
- Mix, apply, and spread adhesive, cement, mortar, or grout using trowels.
- Set and align tiles according to layout lines and patterns, applying pressure to bed them in the adhesive.
- Cut and shape tiles to fit around obstacles and into corners using tile cutters, wet saws, and nippers.
- Apply grout between tiles and remove excess grout with sponges.
- Polish finished surfaces and seal grout lines.
- Ensure tiles are laid evenly and are correctly aligned.
- Repair cracked and damaged tiles.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience as a Tile Setter (minimum 2-4 years).
- Portfolio of completed tiling projects.
- Proficiency with tile tools (trowels, tile cutters, wet saws, levels).
- Knowledge of different types of tile adhesives, grouts, and substrates.
- Strong mathematical skills for calculating angles and making precise measurements.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a strong aesthetic sense for patterns and layout.
- Physical fitness to kneel for long periods and handle heavy materials.
