JOB DETAILS:
Job summary
• Reports to District Coordinator and closely works with the District SI Assistant and other staff in the districts. The incumbent works with children and their guardians to recruit the VCAs, deliver and monitor interventions that improve well-being and mitigate the impact of HIV on children and families. Works in the community in close collaboration with the facility-based care workers, government, and non-governmental structures (CBOs, FBOs, CWACs, ACCs, CHAs, NHC e.t.c.).

Main duties
• Carries out child identification and assessment together with the other district care team and Case Managers.
• Conducts home visits at least once a month to provide support to the registered VCA and their caregiver(s).
• Through the monthly household visits, helps identify biological children of mothers living with HIV and facilitate their access to HIV testing and escorted referrals when found HIV positive.
• Promotes healthy living practices such as hygiene, exercise, and good nutrition by providing health information on positive living including how to manage household level food items.
• Provides support on adherence to ART by checking the ART appointment cards to ensure that appointments are followed, and drugs are collected on time for C/ALHIV and caregiver(s).
• Ensures clients are adherent to treatment by reviewing and assisting functionality of support systems; Mobilize children and adolescents to join and to be active in the CATS support groups and mobilizing the guardians to join Support Groups and/ or Community Adherence Groups and Saving groups
• Conducts benchmark assessments and develops case plans and monitor its implementation and update it regularly.
• Follows up with FCWs on viral load results and ensures that C/ALHIV are referred for the test on scheduled dates.
• Provides health education to C/AHIV and caregivers on the importance of viral load testing and suppression.
• Provides Sexual Reproductive Health information and have discussions about sexuality and safe sex practices for adolescents in safe spaces and CATS groups.
• Screens for any form of sexual and gender-based violence and/ or child abuse and if found, links the survivor for further management by trained providers such as victim support unit/medical treatment/legal support depending on need.

Qualifications
• Minimum Grade 12 complete – with certificate and able to read and write in English.
• Have testing certificate- recently certified testers will be preferred
• Psychosocial counselling certificate is a plus
• Experience with OVC care and support services provision
• Trained on enhanced adherence support (EAC)
• Experience on social protection services provision for VCA.
• Experience and skill using computers, tablets and databases is highly preferred
