Our client, an energy and infrastructure development company operating in Zambia is seeking is seeking a highly skilled Accountant to strengthen our finance function and contribute to strategic financial planning.
We are looking for an analytical, detail‑oriented, and self‑driven Accountant to oversee the daily operations of our accounting department. The successful candidate will ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain statutory compliance, strengthen internal controls, and support key financial decision‑making processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure correct classification of all financial transactions.
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
- Monitor cash flow and manage treasury functions.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Prepare financial statements in line with IFRS.
- Conduct variance analysis for budget vs actual.
- Submit VAT, PAYE, Income Tax, and statutory returns.
- Engage with tax authorities and support tax audits.
- Support budgeting and forecasting.
- Coordinate internal and external audits.
- Maintain internal controls.
- Maintain the fixed asset register and depreciation schedules.
- Support the Finance Manager with ad‑hoc analysis.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Fully qualified Chartered Accountant (ZICA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Member in good standing with ZICA.
- 4–5 years progressive accounting or finance experience.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks).
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills.
- Experience in the energy, utilities, or infrastructure sector is an advantage.
