Position-Accountant
Location- Lusaka, Zambia
Job Purpose
To manage AGS Records Management’s accounts by ensuring accurate financial records, compliance with accounting standards, and timely reporting, handling branch financial transactions, preparing financial statements, monitoring budgets, and providing support to management in decision-making through accurate financial data and analysis.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Management & Reporting
- Maintains accurate financial records of all AGS Records Management transactions.
- Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with accounting standards.
- Reconciles accounts and ensure timely closure of financial periods.
- Generates financial reports for management decision-making.
2. Accounts Payable & Receivable
Manages supplier invoices, payments, and reconciliations.
Monitors customer accounts, process invoices, and ensure timely collections.
Follows up on outstanding payments and escalate as necessary.
3. Budgeting & Cost Control
Assists in the preparation and monitoring of budgets.
Tracks expenses and compare actual performance against budgets.
Highlights variances and recommend corrective actions.
4. Cash Flow & Treasury Management
Monitors and manages daily cash flow to ensure liquidity.
Maintains bank accounts and perform reconciliations.
Liaises with banks on financial matters and transactions.
5. Compliance & Audit Support
Ensures compliance with Zambian tax laws, statutory obligations, and AGS Records Management financial policies.
Prepares and files tax returns (VAT, PAYE, Corporate Tax, etc.) accurately and on time.
Supports both internal and external audits by preparing schedules and responding to audit queries.
6. Administrative & Coordination Duties
- Supports procurement processes through financial verification.
- Ensures proper filing and record-keeping of all financial documents.
- Liaises with other departments to ensure smooth financial operations.
7. Other Duties
Carries out any other duties assigned by the Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
Educational Qualifications
- Grade 12 Certificate with 5 ‘O’ levels with credit or better in Mathematics and English
- Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Must be registered with the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants
Experience
- Not less than 2 years of relevant work experience.
