JOB DETAILS:
Background information about the job or company:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our team. The accountant will be responsible for a broad range of activities, including managing financial records, preparing financial statements and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file tax returns, ensuring timely submission to relevant authorities
- Post and review journals, perform account reconciliations.
- Assist in internal and external audits by preparing necessary documents.
- Provide management with updates with regards to financial performance, risks and opportunities.
- Analyse financial data and identify trends, variances and opportunities for improvement
- Reconcile bank statements and ledgers, investigating and resolving discrepancies
Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting, finance or related field
- Minimum of 3 years proven experience as an accountant
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles. Zambian tax laws and statutory requirements
- Professional certification (ZICA, ACCA, CIMA) added advantage
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Proficiency in accounting software (pastel, sage or similar)
- Strong analytical, reporting and organisational skills
