Momentum Mining Services Limited is seeking the services of a results-driven Accountant who can hit the ground running with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will be expected to take ownership of core accounting functions from the outset, demonstrate strong technical competence, and operate with a high degree of independence while maintaining accuracy and compliance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports with minimal oversight.
• Support the Financial Controller with financial analysis, reporting, and decision-making insights.
• Independently prepare and submit tax returns and statutory filings (e.g., VAT, PAYE, corporate tax).
• Manage and maintain the fixed asset register, including capitalization, depreciation, and periodic verification.
• Take full responsibility for accounts receivable and payable functions, ensuring strong credit control and timely settlements.
• Perform and review account reconciliations (bank, supplier, customer, and general ledger) and promptly resolve discrepancies.
• Ensure completeness and accuracy of accounting records in compliance with applicable standards and internal policies.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management processes.
• Support internal and external audits with minimal supervision.
• Identify process improvement opportunities and implement efficiencies within the finance function.
• Undertake any other duties as may be assigned by the Financial Controller.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ZICA) or at an advanced stage.
• Minimum of 3-5 years’ relevant accounting experience, preferably in mining, engineering, or related industries.
• Demonstrated ability to operate independently and manage accounting functions with minimal supervision.
• Proven track record of preparing financial reports and handling statutory compliance end-to-end.
• Strong working knowledge of accounting standards and tax regulations.
• Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
