About the role:
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Intermediate Accountant with 3-5 years of experience to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate should possess strong accounting expertise, be well-versed in Zambian accounting standards, and have knowledge of cross-border financial regulations. We are looking for a creative, adaptable, and success-driven professional who can contribute to the financial growth and compliance of our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements in compliance with Zambian regulations
- Manage tax filings, VAT, PAYE, and statutory returns in accordance with ZRA requirements
- Handle cross-border financial transactions and ensure compliance with international standards
- Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reconciliations
- Assist in budgeting, cash flow management, and financial forecasting
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and audit processes
- Collaborate with management to optimize financial performance and cost efficiency
- Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and tax laws
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education & Certification: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Must be a registered member of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) or an equivalent professional body
- Additional certifications (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CPA) will be an advantage
- 3-5 years of hands-on accounting experience in a corporate or auditing environment
- Strong knowledge of Zambian tax laws, IFRS, and GAAP
- Familiarity with cross-border transactions and international accounting principles
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Pastel, SAP)
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling)
- Experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
Personal Attributes:
- Highly analytical and detail-oriented
- Creative problem-solver with the ability to adapt to changing regulations
- Self-motivated, hardworking, and success-driven
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
