JOB DETAILS:

.0      THE ORGANIZATION

The Zambia Academy of Sciences (ZaAS) was established under Act No. 18 of 2020. The institution is mandated to provide independent and evidence-based scientific advice or opinion to the government, the private sector and the general public.

2.0       JOB PURPOSE

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Accountant shall be responsible for the management of financial matters, preparation of financial reports and disbursement of funds.

3.0      KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The key responsibilities will include:

i)     Preparation of annual, quarterly and monthly work plans and budgets;

ii)    Effective and diligent monitoring of monthly, quarterly and annual budgets;

iii)   Maintenance of books of accounts;

iv)  Timely preparation of financial statements in accordance with national and international accounting standards;

v)    Any other duties as may be assigned.

4.0      KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

The required knowledge and skills of the candidate include:

i)     Minimum of a Degree in Accountancy or its Equivalent;

ii)    Member of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants.

iii)   Minimum of five (5) years relevant working experience;

iv)  Excellent knowledge of accounting packages

5.0        RENUMERATION

The Zambia Academy of Sciences offers an attractive remuneration package for the position.
