We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated Accounts Assistant to join our Finance team.
Job Purpose
The Accounts Assistant will support the Finance Department by ensuring the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, maintaining proper accounting records, assisting with reconciliations, and contributing to effective financial control and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for, among others, the following:
- Processing supplier invoices and ensuring timely payments.
- Preparing customer invoices and monitoring outstanding receivables.
- Recording daily financial transactions in the accounting system.
- Performing bank, supplier, customer, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Assisting with cash management, petty cash administration, and expense verification.
- Preparing statutory payment schedules and supporting tax compliance.
- Assisting in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
- Maintaining accurate accounting records and filing systems.
- Supporting internal and external audit processes.
- Assisting with payroll-related reconciliations where required.
- Monitoring budget expenditures and identifying variances.
- Ensuring compliance with company financial policies and procedures.
- Performing any other finance-related duties assigned by the Finance Manager.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess:
- A Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Part qualification with ACCA, CIMA, ZICA, or CA Zambia will be an added advantage.
- Membership of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA).
- At least two (2) years of practical accounting experience, preferably in logistics, freight forwarding, removals, transportation, or a service-oriented environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
- Knowledge of Zambian tax legislation and statutory requirements.
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and reconciliation skills.
