AGRONOMY FINANCE OFFICER
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with the field team, supply chain professionals, and other relevant teams to ensure the seamless integration of farmer financing with agronomy operations calendar.
- Produce routine financial reports and presentations to effectively convey the performance of the IPS farmers to both management and stakeholders.
- Assuming a prominent role in the development and execution of grower loan distribution and collection strategies aimed at mitigating risk exposure.
- Liaise with sponsoring banks to ensure that all necessary grower accounts are valid prior to disbursement.
- Regularly carry out invoicing tasks and contribute to the reconciliation of grower accounts, actively addressing inquiries from diverse stakeholders.
- Produce regular reports on the status of loan recoveries for management. identifying areas requiring corrective action and diligently following up on the necessary steps.
- Collaborate on reconciling crop inputs, oversee distribution logistics, and conduct periodic inventory audits, promptly identifying any input conditions that necessitate action by the production team.
- Compile and manage an updated loan portfolio database, aiding in the assessment of grower qualification criteria each season to maintain the company’s risk exposure at acceptable levels.
- Develop and maintain financial models to project expenses, revenues, and return on investment (ROI) for various grower input budget.
- Identify and assess business risks associated with agronomy activities, such as market price fluctuations, crop size developments, regulatory changes, and environmental factors.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to guide decision- making and optimize resource allocation.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting. Agricultural Economics, or a related field.
- Previous experience in financial analysis, budgeting, planning, with a preference for experience in the agricultural or agronomy sector.
- Knowledge of agronomy practices and tobacco industry is beneficial.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in financial modelling and data analysis tools.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a cross- functional team environment.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
