JOB DETAILS:
Background
Africa Directions is a renowned indigenous Zambian non-profit, non-governmental youth-focused organisation that was established in 2001 and is working to advance children and young people’s rights in Zambia. AD currently runs national programs and is operating from Lusaka, Luapula province, Northwestern, Western, and Copperbelt provinces. By designing and implementing programs that support the youth and young women in entrepreneurship, human rights, and sexual and reproductive health rights through the creation of awareness, advocacy, social accountability, and research, AD seeks to deliver a just and sustainable world for all young people in Zambia and beyond.
Started in 2001, AD was founded with one mission: to serve children and young people. Over the years, the organisation has gathered significant experience in social behaviour change and project management work, particularly working with children and young people. AD has previously been involved in implementing several important and beneficial programs in youth inclusion in local governance, entrepreneurship, SRHR, and human rights, including HIV, with organisations such as KNH, Plan International, UNICEF, UNFPA, Elma Foundation, Segal Family Foundation, USAID, and DFID.
Over the course of the last four (4) years, AD has been implementing successful youth projects supported by different stakeholders, and in order to deliver on our goal to combat vulnerability and exclusion with education and participation of young people, Africa Directions recognises the value of developing a strategic plan to assess the strengths and weaknesses of our approach and to consider the internal and external factors that influence the trajectory of our work. AD plans to develop a five-year strategic plan for 2025-2030 to reconfirm the organisation’s vision and mission and to establish a design process and approach for the effective implementation and sustainability of its mandate over the next five years. AD firmly believes that its board, management, staff members, volunteers, and key stakeholders are at the centre of this strategic planning effort, helping to assess ways in which to strengthen the impact of the organisation, providing direct input into consultations.
