JOB DETAILS:
Baker
Job purpose and responsibilities

The Baker is responsible for ensuring all pastry related tasks are executed in good time and with quality. They will work closely with Head Baker as they guided on the standards of Fratelli’s Diner.
• Actively bake various kinds of Pastry i.e., Cakes, Muffins, Biscuits, Croissants etc. as when requested by superior. Ensure that you weigh all flour and measure ingredients before baking.
• Assess the quality and freshness of ingredients each morning and follow recipes to measure ingredients, weigh the flour & mix the dough, mold it into attractive shapes, bake it at the correct temperatures and complete the processes accordingly for the products you will be baking.
• Receive orders from clients and execute accordingly. You might be required to prepare custom-made pastries based on customers’ preferences (e.g., birthday or anniversary cakes).
• Decorate baked products using glaze, icing and other toppings to achieve a finished appearance.
• Assess the quality and condition of raw materials before baking.
• Ensure ingredients’ & material lists are prepared. Submit such requisitions in good time for procurement.
• Manage needed supplies and inventory levels. Ensure to know all frequently needed materials and that they are in stock at all times.
• Ensure profitability by maintaining an accurate record of baking operations as well as satisfied customers.

Key competencies and qualifications
• Full Grade 12 Certificate
• 1-2 Years’ Experience
• A Diploma/ Food Production or related field certificate will be an added advantage.
• Baking experience – One familiarity with all professional kitchen equipment, including ovens, cookers, mixers, blenders, and dough sheeters etc.
• Experience with cake decoration techniques
• Flexibility to work around customer demand
• Ability to work with team members to solve problems
• Ability to read and follow recipes with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.
• Must be experienced with computers; to include Microsoft Office (Word and Excel, Outlook-emails, and the Internet)
• Verbal and written communication skills as well as good Inter-personal skills are essential

Associate Degree
