JOB DETAILS:
Camp Manager
LOCATED: South Luangwa National Park, Zambia – extremely remote.
Sungani is looking to recruit an dynamic and experienced Camp Manager to manage one of it’s properties – Kulandila Camp. Family owned and operated by the Davy family; Kulandila Camp is the smaller of the Sungani properties. It is situated on the magnificent banks of the Luangwa River.
Sungani aims to make every guest’s visit to it’s properties a “5 star” safari experience. The Camp Manager’s overall responsibility encompasses every department. We have identified guiding, hosting, F&B and service as the key pillars of our product. They are required to oversee the general efficiency of every department, ensuring that the relevant staff comply with their own duties and areas of responsibility. There is a focus on a warm personalised service, exclusivity, authenticity, professionalism, and a closeness to the wildlife/conservation.
The camp is in a remote part of the South Luangwa National Park, Zambia. The role will suit someone who is looking to further their career and grow with the Sungani brand. They will need to innovate and work well with the team on the ground. This person should be outgoing, flexible and a real people person. They need to be passionate about the bush and conservation – which is a big part of Sungani’s mission.

Requirements
• Minimum of 2, preferable 3 years’ experience in similar international client-based lodge/camp is required.
• Proven experience/ responsibility in the hospitality industry.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure.
• Ability to think on your feet and handle a crisis calmly.
• Ability to co-ordinate with the head chef, kitchen team and wait staff to deliver a high standard of presentation.
• Ability to manage, train and mentor wait staff and housekeepers to excel to an even higher standard.
• A sound knowledge of beverage presentation and the ability to produce certain beverages and train staff.
• Knowledgeable of all dietary and religious requirements.
• Knowledge of safe practice and fire protocols in the workplace.
• Good knowledge of creating, implementing, and maintaining written control documents.
• Good knowledge and understanding of stock procurement procedures and controls.
• Good knowledge of planning, budgeting, and departmental administration.
• Extremely efficient on Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email.
• A real people’s person.
• A strict no alcohol while at work policy is in force.

Desired Skills
• Good understanding of food trends in luxury hospitality.
• First Aid trained.
• Knowledgeable in high end wines/beverages.
• Efficient knowledge on a hotel PMS (ResRequest or Nightsbridge).
• Experience of working in Zambia and an understanding of the culture.
Package on offer
• Location: South Luangwa National Park. Please note – the lodge is very remote and can be accessed by road or by airplane. You would arrive via Lusaka, Zambia. It is also possible to fly via Lilongwe, Malawi. You’ll fly into Mfuwe International Airport. You will be met and either flown or driven to camp.
• Double Accommodation – built.
• Food and uniform.
• $ Negotiable based on experience.
• Travel to and from lodge included. Depending on where ‘home’ is one flight per season to and from Lusaka.
• 4 days per month off and 2 days leave per month. Time away needs to be strategised based on occupancy and need. Paid leave can be taken end of the season.
• Potential start date: ASAP
