Job Summary:

Kansanshi Mining PLC is seeking an experienced and dedicated Chef to oversee all culinary operations within our facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality, safe, and delicious meals for our employees and visitors, ensuring efficient kitchen management and adherence to all food safety standards.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute daily menus, considering dietary restrictions, nutritional value, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring proper food handling, preparation, and presentation techniques.
  • Manage inventory, order supplies, and control food costs to optimize kitchen efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, adhering to strict hygiene and sanitation standards.
  • Develop new recipes and culinary offerings to enhance the dining experience.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations and company policies.
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and effectively.
  • Monitor food quality and taste, making adjustments as necessary to maintain high standards.
  • Collaborate with management to plan special events and cater to specific requests.

Job Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in Culinary Arts, with a strong understanding of various cooking techniques and cuisines.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Food Control, including inventory management and cost optimization.
  • Thorough knowledge of safe Food Handling practices and procedures.
  • Extensive experience in Food Preparation and Food Production in a high-volume environment.
  • In-depth Food Safety Knowledge, including HACCP principles and relevant certifications.
  • Proficiency in Food Service Operations, from menu planning to service delivery.
  • Strong Kitchen Management skills, including staff supervision, scheduling, and performance evaluation.
  • Ability to contribute to and lead Recipe Development initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
  • Relevant culinary qualifications or certifications are highly desirable.
