The University is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified individual for the position of “Chief Librarian”

Job Purpose

To provide strategic leadership and management of the University Library by ensuring the delivery of high-quality library and information services that support teaching, learning, research, and innovation for both students and staff members. The Chief Librarian will oversee the development, organization, and management of library resources, services, technologies, and personnel to ensure efficient access to information, promote academic excellence, and maintain compliance with institutional and professional standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in library and information science/library and information systems from a reputable university.
• Master's degree in library and information science/library and information systems from a reputable university.
• A PhD/Doctorate Degree in Library and Information Science/Library and Information Systems will be an added advantage.

Experience

• Minimum of five (5) years’ work experience at the Senior Librarian rank or in a similar senior library management position.
• Minimum of five (5) peer-reviewed publications in recognized journals in the field of specialization.
• Demonstrated experience in managing academic library services, digital library resources, and library staff.
• Proven leadership, administrative, and strategic planning skills in a higher education environment.
