The position is part of the Mining Division specifically falling under the Civil Engineering department, and will join the team within the department. He will be required to carry out all civil engineering related works in order to support the operations of other departments within the division. He will be required to head construction teams whilst upholding high safety and environmental standards, statutory and domestic regulation compliance also.
He/she will be able work under tight time lines to meet targets and deadlines whilst managing costs.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise construction works at multiple sites for both inhouse and outsourced projects while ensuring the right quality and adherence to standards, project specifications including local regulations are being followed.
- Plan and coordinate work packages for streamlined implementation of all construction works and effectively communicating the same to the line manager.
- Carry out quantity and cost estimates for the various projects being undertaken by the company.
- Ensure strict adherence to high safety standards and enforce the MEL safety protocols at all times on site.
- Coordinate with Procurement for materials and other stakeholders to ensure effective coordination and smooth work flow.
- Prepare and submit daily and weekly project progress and status reports.
Maintain an open communication with superiors at all times.
Required Qualifications
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Bachelor of Civil Engineering Degree.
- Member of EIZ and working towards registered engineer status
Experience
- Minimum 3 – 5 years of traceable experience working within the following;
- Site construction Supervision
- Costing and quantity estimates for building, steel and concrete structures
- Proficient user of MS Project (Word, Excel, Power Point) and other design and planning software.
- Experience in project and asset Management systems.
Skills, Attributes and Abilities
- Team player and able to work with very minimum supervision.
- Communication Skills (oral and written);
- Analytical and Problem-solving skills;
- Time Management, planning and organizing skills;
- Able to operate safely and maintain and promote safe production and;
- Able to supervise and motivate workers.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals including the engineering drawings of structures including technical specification.
- Ability to solve practical problems.
- Able to works with other project management software packages such as Programmes of works and other planning software packages.
- Honest
- Strong interpersonal skills Reporting
- The role reports to Senior Civil Engineer
