Background
Mongu Trades Training Institute, an institution under the Ministry of Technology and Science, is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the positions.
Responsibilities
To plan, organize, and effectively utilize instructional materials to ensure the quality delivery of courses offered in line with approved curricula and TEVETA standards.
- Carry out tests in order to identify students’ performance levels
- Contribute to the institute’s continuous improvement cycle and committed to student development
- Use varied assessment and maximize student engagement and learning
- Assist in carrying out needs assessments for courses and help in the formation of curricular for identified course
- Assess students’ performance through quizzes, assignments and testing, and provide one-on-one tutoring when necessary
- Guide students in their research work
- Provide guidance and counseling to students
- Manage and facilitate safe and supportive learning environments with an understanding of positive student welfare practices
- Set ambitious goals with students and monitor their progress while encouraging them through frequent and persisted feedback.
- Maintain students’ discipline in class
- Ensure that all students are in compliance with the institutional rules and regulations
- Ensuring students attend lectures regularly.
- Manage the class and help in maintaining a health learning and classroom environment
- Creating a physical and virtual classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of the students.
- Prepare lesson plans, schemes and other professional documents to ensure contents are in line with TEVETA standards
- Prepare reports on students and activities as required by administration and TEVETA.
- Collaborate with other course unit lecturers to monitor weaknesses and strength of each student.
- Carry out any other duties as assigned by Management
Qualifications
- Grade 12 Certificate with five (5) credits or better, including English and Mathematics.
- Bachelor of Arts with Education or equivalent with Majors in Communication, Linguistics)
- Teaching methodology for qualification without Education.
- Knowledge of local languages will be an added advantage.
- TEVETA accreditation
- All qualifications must be certified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA)
Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years teaching experience.
