Background
Undikumbukire Project (UP) Zambia is a charitable human rights organization committed to supporting vulnerable children in conflict with the law by providing free legal representation, social services, and advocating for a restorative justice system.
In partnership with Save the Children and the Young Women Christian Association (YWCA), UP Zambia is implementing The Comprehensive Bilateral Anti-Human Trafficking Project, which seeks to:
- Strengthen the Zambian government and civil society efforts in preventing human trafficking.
- Proactively identify and protect victims and provide comprehensive, trauma-informed care.
- Support the investigation, prosecution, and conviction of trafficking perpetrators.
- Promote collaboration and partnerships for long-term solutions.
We are currently seeking a dynamic and creative Communications Consultant to lead the development and execution of an integrated public awareness campaign on human trafficking.
Scope of Work and Key Responsibilities
The Communications Consultant will be responsible for the design and delivery of a multi-channel communications campaign. Tasks include:
1. Campaign Strategy Development
- Develop a comprehensive communications plan outlining key messages, target audiences, channels, and tools.
- Deliverable: Strategic communication plan (10–15 pages) by June 14, 2025.
2. Awareness Materials Production
- Create high-quality materials including:
- Posters (5, A2 size)
- Banners (3: 2 pop-up, 1 horizontal)
- Scripts for TV (2) and radio (2)
- Flyers (3 designs)
- Social media content templates (10+)
- Deadline: By June 28, 2025
3. Digital Campaign Implementation
- Plan and implement social media campaigns with:
- Hashtags, infographics, reels, interactive tools (quizzes, surveys)
- Posting on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter (X)
- Regular content schedule (3 posts/week)
- Timeline: June–August 2025
4. Media Engagement
- Develop a media contact list
- Draft and distribute 3 press releases
- Assemble a digital press kit
- Coordinate one media briefing event
- Timeline: By early July 2025
5. Internal Communication
- Prepare and distribute a monthly project newsletter and stakeholder updates
- Deliverables: 3 newsletters (End of June, July, August)
6. Monitoring, Analytics & Reporting
- Monitor campaign reach and engagement through media coverage and digital analytics
- Provide:
- Mid-point report (by July 15)
- Final report (by August 30)
- Format: Word or PDF (5–8 pages each)
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in strategic communications, ideally within the non-profit or advocacy sector.
- Proven experience in multi-platform communication campaigns.
- Strong writing, editing, and design skills (portfolio required).
- Demonstrated social media and digital campaign management experience.
- Familiarity with analytics tools for tracking digital performance.
- Media engagement experience, including press releases and events.
- Sensitivity to ethical storytelling when working with vulnerable communities.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Prior work related to anti-human trafficking or social justice is a distinct advantage.
