The organisation works closely with national and sub-national stakeholders to improve service delivery, enhance programme performance, and respond to priority public health needs, including immunisation and disease prevention.
Position Summary
Ciheb Zambia is seeking a positive, highly motivated, organized individual with excellent communication skills to join our team as a Communications Officer on a Part-time basis. The Communications Officer will play a critical role in supporting the Health Worker Vaccination Programme (Influenza and Hepatitis B) through the design and implementation of strategic communication and demand generation interventions.
The role is expected to focus on strengthening vaccine confidence and uptake among healthcare workers by translating technical information into clear, engaging, and actionable messaging. The successful candidate will work closely with the Ministry of Health, EPI programme teams, and partners to develop compelling content, drive advocacy efforts, and support behaviour change communication initiatives informed by programme data and insights such as Behavioural and Social Drivers (BeSD).
Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Ministry of Health and partners to operationalise a comprehensive communication strategy for the Health Worker Vaccination Programme.
- Design and operationalise communication plans aligned with national immunisation priorities and campaign timelines.
- Develop high-quality content for multiple platforms, including print materials, presentations, reports, and digital media.
- Produce engaging storytelling content, including success stories, testimonials, and case studies from healthcare workers and facilities.
- Develop and disseminate IEC materials, FAQs, myth-busting messages, and job aids to support vaccine demand generation.
- Support planning and communication for programme activities, including launches, stakeholder meetings, and dissemination events.
- Manage and implement social media and digital communication strategies, including development of content calendars.
- Provide technical support to provincial and district teams on communication and advocacy for vaccination activities.
- Translate behavioural insights into targeted messaging to address vaccine hesitancy and improve uptake.
- Collaborate with professional bodies and partners to strengthen advocacy and amplify key programme messages.
- Monitor and evaluate communication activities, including tracking reach, engagement, and effectiveness of messaging.
- Prepare regular communication reports and updates for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support documentation of programme progress, lessons learned, and best practices.
- Ensure consistency, accuracy, and quality of all communication materials in line with Ministry of Health guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Health, Journalism, Social Sciences, or a related field.
Experience:
- Relevant experience in communication for public health or development programmes.
- Demonstrated experience working with the Ministry of Health or similar government institutions.
- Experience supporting vaccination programmes will be a strong added advantage.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing communication strategies and campaigns.
- Experience in content creation for diverse platforms, including digital and social media.
- Strong writing and editing experience, including development of reports, briefs, and advocacy materials.
- Experience working in multi-stakeholder environments, including coordination with partners and government entities.
Required Skills
- Strong strategic communication and planning skills.
- Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling abilities.
- Ability to translate technical information into clear, audience-appropriate messaging.
- Proficiency in digital communication and social media management.
