About the Role

We are seeking motivated and detail-oriented volunteers to join our Community Environmental Monitoring Team. Volunteers will contribute to field-based data collection and analysis focused on assessing water and soil quality in areas affected by industrial and mining activities.

This role is ideal for final-year students or recent graduates in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Civil/Water Resources Engineering, or related disciplines who wish to gain practical experience in applied environmental monitoring and community-based research.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the collection, labeling, and preservation of soil and water samples following standardized field procedures.
  • Support in-situ testing for basic water quality parameters such as pH, turbidity, and conductivity using portable field kits.
  • Record, organize, and verify field data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and traceability.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment during all field operations, adhering to health and safety guidelines.
  • Participate in periodic field briefings and contribute to data interpretation discussions under the supervision of project engineers and environmental scientists.
  • Prepare concise field reports or data summaries for inclusion in ongoing research documentation and publications.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Enrolled in or recently completed a degree or diploma in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Water Resources, or related field.
  • Demonstrated understanding of basic environmental sampling and testing principles.
  • Ability to work responsibly in outdoor field conditions and maintain attention to detail during data collection.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaborative fieldwork.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel or data entry platforms (mandatory).
  • Commitment to professional ethics, environmental safety, and data integrity.
