About the Project:
We are currently seeking experienced and highly skilled Shuttering Carpenters to join our team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work with our construction company known for delivering high-quality, structurally sound projects on time and safely.
Job Description:
As a Shuttering Carpenter, you will play a crucial role in the structural integrity of the project. You will be responsible for constructing, erecting, and striking formwork (shuttering) used to hold concrete in place while it sets. We are looking for precision craftsmen who understand the pressures of wet concrete and can build formwork that is robust, exact, and leak-proof.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret complex architectural and structural blueprints to determine formwork requirements.
- Measure, cut, and assemble timber, plywood, and metal panels to create formwork molds.
- Erect and securely brace formwork to withstand the weight and pressure of wet concrete.
- Align, level, and plumb formwork to exact tolerances using laser levels, plumb bobs, and string lines.
- Apply release agents to formwork surfaces to prevent concrete from sticking.
- Strip and dismantle formwork safely and efficiently after concrete has cured.
- Clean, maintain, and store formwork materials and equipment.
- Work closely with steel fixers, concrete placers, and site supervisors to ensure seamless project execution.
- Strictly adhere to all site health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Proven experience (Minimum [3-5] years) as a Shuttering/Formwork Carpenter on large-scale construction sites.
- Expert knowledge of various formwork systems (e.g., timber, ply, Peri, Doka, or similar proprietary systems).
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
- High level of accuracy in measuring, cutting, and leveling.
- Craft Certificate in Carpentry & Joinery
- Own a comprehensive set of hand tools relevant to the trade.
- Physically fit, with the ability to perform demanding manual labor, work at heights, and in various weather conditions.
- Strong commitment to health and safety protocols.
