Are you a recent graduate looking to gain practical, hands-on experience in a growing business?
Rivuuz is hiring two paid interns to join our team in Lusaka. We're looking for motivated, organised and eager-to-learn individuals to support our construction projects and day-to-day business operations.
Construction Management Intern
Core Focus: Field Supervision, Site Logistics & Subcontractor Coordination
- Site Daily Logs: Accompany the Site Manager on daily walks to document work progress, weather conditions, site activities, and manpower counts in the daily site diary.
- Material Quantity Take-Offs: Assist in measuring and calculating material requirements (e.g., concrete volumes, rebar tonnage, block counts) from structural and architectural drawings.
- Subcontractor Supervision Support: Shadow trade foremen (electricians, plumbers, carpenters) to ensure they have the correct revised drawings and are working within their designated zones.
- Quality Walkthroughs: Conduct basic visual inspections of ongoing work—checking concrete slump, rebar spacing, formwork alignment, and grout filling against approved checklists.
- Safety Observation: Identify and report basic site hazards (e.g., unguarded openings, improper stacking of materials, lack of PPE) to the Safety Officer and assist in toolbox talk briefings.
- Delivery Coordination: Receive and verify deliveries of construction materials against delivery notes; inspect for damage and coordinate safe offloading/storage locations on site.
- As-Built Markups: Update red-line "as-built" drawings with field changes (e.g., changes in conduit routing or foundation depths) for final handover documentation.
We're looking for people who:
- Have recently graduated or have some practical work experience (students are welcome to apply if available to work full-time).
- Have a background in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
- Are organised, proactive and willing to learn.
- Can work full-time.
- Live in or near Salama Park, Ibex Hill or surrounding areas.
This is a paid internship with the opportunity to gain real-world experience and grow into a permanent role.
- Monitor the status of purchase orders (POs) for office supplies, small tools, and subcontractor services; follow up with vendors on pending quotations and delivery timelines.
- Assist in creating daily schedules for company vehicles and site equipment (e.g., generators, compaction plates) to ensure efficient utilization across multiple sites.
- Organize and digitize hard-copy project documents (contracts, insurance certificates, permits, delivery notes) into shared drives or document management systems.
- Attend operations and project review meetings; record minutes, track action items, and follow up with relevant team members on pending tasks.
- Help compile and organize pre-qualification documents (certificates of incorporation, tax compliance, insurance, CVs of key personnel) for new subcontractor approvals.
- Assist in monthly stocktaking of office stationery, PPE (helmets/vests/boots), and small tools; flag discrepancies between physical counts and system records.
- Prepare application bundles for regulatory bodies (e.g., NEMA, KCCA, or local district authorities) by collating required site plans, survey reports, and cover letters.
- Collect, review, and organize weekly timesheets from site staff and casual laborers; flag incomplete or inaccurate entries to the HR/Payroll officer.
