Zambart is an independent Zambian research organization whose headquarters is at the University of Zambia’s Ridgeway Campus in Lusaka. Zambart is globally renowned for its interdisciplinary research on HIV and Tuberculosis and has contributed to HIV and TB policy and practice at national and global levels. Zambart’s research portfolio now includes a broader scope of urgent public health issues. TB Reach Wave 11 Plus

The TB reach Wave 11 Plus project aims to provide quality evidence to inform policy makers in decisions around deployment and implementation of Near Point of Care (NPOCs) tests at community and primary health care levels to increase access to quality TB screening and diagnosis in Zambia. The project will focus on measuring the health service impact of whether NPOC deployment at Primary Healthcare (PHC) facilities increases TB testing and notification.

The data manager will manage and support the monitoring and evaluation of data collected from several health facilities in Ndola district. To support the wide range of activities for the TB Reach Wave 11 Plus project, we are looking for an ambitious, suitably qualified candidate to fill the following exciting position that has arisen:

Position: Data Manager (1)

Location: Ndola

The appointed data manager will be stationed at the community hub in Mapalo Ndola and will be accountable to the TB Reach Wave 11 Plus Study Manager and the Head of Research Data and Statistics department in Lusaka.

Key roles and responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • In charge of installing and maintaining data infrastructure: hardware and software, connectivity, data protection.
  • Monitor the progress of data collection (M&E).
  • Monitor the quality of data collection in close collaboration with the study staff in Mapalo
  • Will be responsible for all data cleaning/corrections.
  • Collect and compile routine health care data from the clinic and reconcile all discrepancies with the district M&E teams (TB notification and suspect register, lab registers, TPT-registers and other conditions).
  • Analyse and write the data component of the quarterly reports to the funder including uploading of data into DHIS2.
  • Provide daily feedback to study team in Ndola and provide weekly feedback to study management in Lusaka.

Essential Requirements:

  • BSc degree in computer science, data science, health-informatics.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in the field of data management and monitoring & evaluation using. relational databases and mobile data collection tools.
  • Proficiency in SQL.
  • Ability to critically interrogate the quality of data.
  • Experience of working with health systems data and patient records.

Desirable:

  • A master’s degree in computer science will be an added advantage.
  • Experience working in a (public health) research setting.
  • Experience in using DHIS-2, the statistical package Stata or R.
  • Experience in programming data collection tools (questionnaires).
