About the Position
The Driver will work at the ALS Zambia Kansanshi site. ALS operates 24/7 and the Employee must be able to work shifts and flexi hours. The responsibilities of the Driver is not restricted to the list below and is subject to change depending on business needs.
The role will involve ensuring that all work activities are carried out in a safety and responsible manner.
The position will be responsible for:
Compliance:
- Practice and drive the ALS Health and Safety Foundation Standards.
- Practice the ALS company core values.
- Abide by the ALS company policies and procedures.
- Abide by local legislative requirements at all times
- Follow all ALS Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) at all times
- Abide by local legislative requirements at all times
- Comply with the ALS Quality Management System
- Prepare and comply with internal as well as external audits for the region
Scope of Work:
- Safe and efficient operation: Driving company vehicles to designated locations while adhering to traffic laws and company safety protocols.
- Route planning: Utilizing GPS and local knowledge to plan efficient routes and minimize travel time.
- Loading and unloading: Assisting with loading and unloading cargo, ensuring safe handling of goods.
- Vehicle maintenance: Performing basic maintenance checks (oil, tires, etc.), reporting any issues, and ensuring the vehicle is in good working order.
- Record keeping: Maintaining accurate records of trips, fuel usage, and expenses.
- Communication: Communicating effectively with dispatchers, clients.
- Vehicle cleanliness: Keeping the vehicle clean and presentable inside and out.
- Reporting: Reporting any damage, accidents, or traffic violations to management.
- Compliance: Adhering to company policies, procedures, and all applicable regulations.
- Ensure ALS Health and Safety policies and procedures are adhered to at all times
To be successful in this role you will have:
- A valid driver’s license with authorisation to drive 5-10 ton capacity trucks.
- At least one year of driving experience to perform the job safely
- Excellent navigation skills and proficiency in using navigation applications to find delivery locations
- Time management and organizational skills to keep track of deliveries and stay on schedule
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients
- Physical stamina and good upper body strength to lift heavy luggage, packages and objects, as well as be able to load and unload them from their vehicle
- High level of integrity and excellent communicating skills
- Ability to multi task and meet challenging deadlines
- Able to prioritize and give accurate feedback on time
- High standards of work ethic and attention to detail
