About the Role

Our client is looking for a reliable, safety-conscious and professional Driver to provide safe, efficient and dependable transportation services for staff, management, visitors and organisational assets. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and timely transportation of passengers and materials while maintaining assigned vehicles in good working condition.

The role requires extensive knowledge of Zambia's provinces, districts and major road networks, as well as the ability to travel extensively across the country. The Driver will also be expected to conduct routine vehicle inspections, maintain accurate vehicle records, monitor servicing and compliance requirements, and identify and address basic vehicle faults where necessary.

The successful candidate should be highly responsible, organised and professional, with the ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality when transporting staff, management and company information.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport staff, management, visitors and other authorised passengers to assigned destinations.
  • Ensure timely transportation while complying with all applicable traffic laws, road safety regulations and organisational policies.
  • Plan efficient travel routes and consider road conditions, traffic and other factors when planning journeys.
  • Provide transportation and logistical support during field trips, official assignments and business activities.
  • Travel to provinces and districts across Zambia as required by operational needs.
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections to ensure assigned vehicles are safe and roadworthy.
  • Monitor fuel consumption, mileage and general vehicle performance.
  • Ensure vehicles are serviced and maintained according to the required service schedules.
  • Monitor vehicle compliance requirements, including road tax, insurance and fitness certificates.
  • Report vehicle defects and mechanical issues promptly and coordinate repairs and servicing as required.
  • Perform basic mechanical troubleshooting and minor repairs where reasonably possible.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and general condition of assigned vehicles at all times.
  • Ensure vehicles have the required tools, spare equipment and safety equipment.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date vehicle logbooks, trip records, fuel records and other required documentation.
  • Assist with the delivery and collection of documents, materials, equipment and other items as required.
  • Support administrative and operational activities when required.
  • Ensure all transportation activities comply with organisational policies and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when transporting staff, management, visitors and company information.
  • Report any incidents, accidents, traffic violations or other vehicle-related matters to the relevant supervisor promptly.
  • Monitor vehicle downtime and take a proactive approach to identifying maintenance requirements.
  • Perform any other driving, transport or administrative duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Grade 12 School Certificate.
  • Valid Zambian Driver's Licence, Class B or higher.
  • Minimum of 3 years' driving experience, preferably within a corporate or similar professional environment.
  • Proven knowledge of Zambia's provinces, districts and major road networks.
  • Experience driving both manual and automatic vehicles.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to identify and troubleshoot common vehicle faults.
  • Good understanding of vehicle maintenance requirements and road safety practices.
  • Proven ability to travel extensively within Zambia.
  • Previous experience transporting staff, management or visitors in a professional environment will be an advantage.

Compensation

The incumbent will receive a competitive salary commensurate with experience.
