Position: Electrical Maintenance Engineer
Department: Maintenance
Reporting to: Maintenance & EHS Manager
Grade: Diploma Level
Geographic Scope: Multiple Manufacturing Facilities
Based at: LUSAKA/ As Per Company Requirement Location May Change
Direct Reports: Maintenance Supervisor and Technicians
Job purpose
The Maintenance Engineer plays a key role in ensuring the reliable operation, safety, and efficiency of all utility equipment across multiple production plants. This includes scheduled preventive maintenance, rapid fault resolution, spare parts availability, project implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives. The role also involves leading and developing a capable technical team.
Key responsibilities
Preventive Maintenance Execution
- Ensure 100% adherence to preventive maintenance schedules for all utility equipment, including diesel generators, air compressors, transformers, and other critical assets.
Spare Parts Management
- Monitor and maintain 100% availability of essential spare parts.
- Work closely with procurement to forecast, plan, and restock critical spares.
Breakdown Management
- Respond to equipment failures with urgency.
- Minimize downtime through quick restoration and root-cause analysis.
Continuous Improvement (Kaizen)
- Implement and promote Kaizen techniques to drive efficiency and eliminate waste.
- Suggest process improvements to reduce maintenance costs and increase uptime.
Project Execution
- Support and lead assigned engineering and maintenance projects from planning through implementation.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
Team Building & Leadership
- Develop the technical skills of maintenance personnel through coaching and on-the-job training.
- Promote a strong safety and quality culture within the team.

Key Qualifications & Requirements
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification (e.g., Industrial Training Institute – ITI).
- Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in the FMCG or manufacturing sector.
- Proven experience with DG sets, compressors, transformers, and utility systems.
