Job Description

The key purpose of this role is to provide specialized electrical artisan skill and knowledge to the shift team, and to support the operations, maintenance of the Packaging Line and to perform and assist in problem-solvingCareer development courses

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Take part in maintenance planning meeting, contributing suggestions and clarifying work required
  • Carry out work during the planned, routine and opportunity maintenance window in accordance with the planned maintenance schedule issued by the Planner
  • Where scheduled work cannot be completed, feed back to the Maintenance Planner for direction, this may involve rescheduling the work or prioritizing outstanding work
  • Assist fellow team members in the execution of their tasks in during planned maintenance windows
  • Complete any administration and COSWIN tasks in support of planned maintenance
  • Partake in maintenance postmortems to feedback problems, opportunities and learnings from maintenance activities
  • Carry out Autonomous Operations as per requirements
  • Partake in cleaning, lubrication and inspection in accordance with the maintenance schedule issued by the Maintenance planner must be resolved using the appropriate problem-solving techniques
  • Carry out routine maintenance activities in accordance with the maintenance schedule where problems have been uncovered during routine maintenance (where required, additional resources may be called in to assist)
  • Verify that where running repairs have been carried out, this has addressed the problem
  • Complete the administration tasks relating to any running repairs has carried out (this includes all COSWIN inputs) where running repairs cannot be carried out, communicate this to the Maintenance Planner to ensure the work is planned into the next planned window
  • Assist fellow team members to resolve problems on request
  • Take part, as functional expert, in AB reports on request
  • Where necessary, call-in additional resources to assist in problem solving or escalate to the Engineering Controller for direction
  • Analyze machine performance, conduct loss and waste analysis and develop action plans to improve performance
  • Provide specialist support to the shift-based teams during operations, this will include standby and day shift support. Where requested, assist as a functional expert in problem solving
  • Where requested, provide guidance and advice to the shift-based teams on machine operation, machine fault finding and correct responses to machine failure modes
  • Where requested, provide coaching, mentoring and knowledge transfer of machine operation to shift based teams
  • Assess Operators and Artisans ability to carry out tasks. Take part, as functional expert, in regional and central office plant optimization trials. Adhere to work practices that support shift-based teams.
  • Always operate in a safe manner, and identify and highlight unsafe work practices so that these may be corrected
  • Carry out work according to the work instructions and adhere to maintenance procedures
  • Carry out housekeeping tasks, and apply 5S principles during the execution of duties
  • Comply with and maintain a safe, healthy, risk-free working environment and follow environmental procedures and legislation
  • Perform maintenance, plan and prepare the job, carry out repairs and maintenance
  • Operate and maintain all machines & associated devices in the Packaging process
  • Optimize plant, process equipment & systems
  • Ensure that maintenance tasks are completed appropriately
  • Standby duty required as per roster
  • Maintain safety and housekeeping standards
  • Identification of unsafe practices through SIO’s
  • Conduct safety inspections and audit safe maintenance practices
  • Adherence to PPE policies
  • Operate workshop equipment
  • Communicate effectively in teams and contribute to self and team development
  • Backlog, generate tags for follow on work and Satisfied customers no rework

Minimum requirements:

  • Trade Tested N3 Electrical
  • Electrical artisan – Trade Tested
  • Min – 2-3 months on the job training
  • Ideal 3-6 months on the job training
  • 1-2 years as an Electrical Artisan in similar industry
  • Electrical trade coupled with C&A
