Background

Silverlands Agriculture Services Limited is an agricultural business operating in Central Province, Mkushi. The Company wishes to invite applications from suitably qualified Zambians to fill in the position of an Electrician.

Responsibilities

The applicant must have the following qualifications:

  • Diagnosis and repairing faults in electrical systems including variable frequency drives (VSDs), Centre Irrigation Systems (Valley and Agrico) and control panels.
  • Routine Inspections of power distribution boards, motor control centres and electrical switch gears.
  • Identify and replace damaged electrical components to ensure continuous farm operations.
  • Perform the installation, calibration and maintenance of Industrial Sensors, including temperature pressure and flow sensors.
  • Installing and testing electrical systems, motors, transformers, and sensors networks.
  • Panel Installation and wiring, ensuring all electrical components are correctly connected and meet safety regulations.
  • Troubleshooting electrical issues in irrigation systems, ensuring safe operation of all electrical systems on the farm,
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting electrical components and systems, to prevent breakdowns and ensure reliability.
  • Test electrical systems and components for proper operation, voltage, current, and resistance, using multi meters, voltage testers, and other diagnostic tools.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety regulations, codes, and standards, including Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
  • Install and maintain grounding systems, surge protectors, and electrical safety devices to protect against electrical hazards, shocks, and fires.
  • Respond to emergency service calls, power outages, or electrical emergencies promptly, troubleshooting problems and implementing solutions to minimize downtime and disruptions.
  • Perform routine safety inspections and collaborate with other team members to plan and execute projects.
  • Any other relevant and related duties assigned by Management.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 School Certificate
  • Craft Certificate in Power Electrical
  • With a valid membership practicing certificate of EIZ

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar environment
