JOB DETAILS:
Overall Job Purpose
• The Engineer, Project and Optimisation plays a key role in enhancing project efficiency, aligning projects with strategic goals, and identifying and implementing optimisation opportunities. This role combines project management, technical expertise, and collaboration to ensure projects meet timelines, budgets, and deliver significant results.
• As a crucial part of the Business Optimisation team, the Engineer influences project landscape, streamlines operations, and fosters innovation. This roles’ contribution directly impacts competitiveness and success, leading, optimising, and aligning all major Enterprise projects for operational excellence within the Enterprise value chain.

Specific Job Responsibility
Project Management Responsibilities:
• Major Capital Projects: Lead project management efforts for major capital projects, overseeing projects from initiation to completion. Operational Projects: Assist in optimising operational projects within defined boundary limits. Facilitate collaborations as needed and ensure accountability for these projects.

AFCE Management:
• Formulation and Oversight: Collaborate with the team to formulate and oversee all Capital Expenditure Applications (AFCEs), ensuring precise financial planning and control for projects and operations. Budget Management: Meticulously estimate project costs, including materials, labour, and equipment. Ensure adherence to budgets, implement cost controls, and prevent overruns. Resource Allocation: Efficiently assign resources, monitor utilisation, and ensure the right skills for AFCE project tasks. Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify and mitigate risks through comprehensive assessments and proactive strategies.

Technical Expertise Responsibilities:
• Technical Problem Solving: Diagnose and resolve operational challenges, applying technical knowledge. Technology Adoption: Evaluate emerging technologies, assessing their potential benefits for project optimisation.

Team Collaboration Responsibilities:
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate across departments, fostering effective communication and teamwork. Shared Services Management: Manage shared services, ensuring Enterprise receives required attention and services from shared departments while aligning needs. Mentorship and Guidance: Support colleagues’ professional growth through mentorship and knowledge sharing.

Communication and Documentation Responsibilities:
• Stakeholder Communication: Ensure stakeholders are well-informed about project goals and progress. Document Management: Maintain meticulous project documentation for reference, accountability, and transparency.

Adaptability and Continuous Improvement:
• Adapting to Change: Remain adaptable, ready to adjust project plans to address changing circumstances. Continuous Improvement: Actively seek process optimisation and efficiency improvements, integrating lessons learned for ongoing improvement.

Job Specific Competencies
• Strong project management skills, with experience in leading cross-functional teams.

Experience required to perform in this job
• Minimum two years of experience with responsibilities in a project environment.
• Minimum two years of experience in CI or an Operating Excellence environment using Lean, Six Sigma, or other CI processes
• Sophisticated user of the Microsoft Suite®, in particular Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI
• Experience with Python, SQL, and data and statistical analytics is a strong asset
• Proven success implementing change through end user and partner engagement, and sustaining results in an operationally complex business
• Experience developing business cases, and an ability to communicate through multiple mediums

Qualifications
• Degree in Finance, Mining, Engineering, Processing, or qualification in a related subject area
