JOB DETAILS:

Background

NISIR spearheads research and development that accelerates Zambia’s sustainable socio-economic growth. The Board seeks an outstanding, innovative and self-driven leader to head the Institute and deliver on agreed Key Performance Indicators.

Qualifications

• Full Grade 12 Certificate with credits, or equivalent
• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific, engineering or technological field
• Master’s degree in a scientific, engineering or technological field — an MBA is an added advantage
• PhD in science, applied science or technology from a recognised university

Experience & Attributes

• Minimum 10 years’ R&D experience at senior level
• Proven leadership with strategic and analytical thinking
• Track record of published refereed scientific or technical work
• Strong management, administration and resource mobilisation
• Effective communicator across Government, industry and cooperating partners

The Role at a Glance

• Lead scientific and industrial research and the application of science and technology in Zambia
• Drive strategy, implement Board policy and serve as Commercialise products and processes beyond the laboratory and grow income streams
• Manage budgets, accounts and annual reporting
