Eastern Tropical Fruit Company Limited (ETF) is jointly owned by Zambia Fruit Company and Vitaplus Foods Limited, under the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC). The Company operates a hybrid fruit and vegetable processing plant located in Katete District, Eastern Province of Zambia.
Role Overview:
The Filling Line Operator will be responsible for the efficient operation and supervision of the fruit and vegetable product filling line at ETF. The role will ensure that processed products are accurately and hygienically filled, sealed, and packaged according to company specifications and food safety standards. The Filling Line Operator will play a vital role in minimizing downtime, maintaining product quality, and ensuring that filling operations meet daily production targets while adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and health and safety regulations.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Machine Operation:
- Set up and operate the filling, capping, and sealing machines on the production line.
- Monitor the line for any issues, such as jams, spills, or incorrect fills.
- Adjust machine settings as needed to maintain a consistent product flow and accurate fill levels.
Quality Control:
- Conduct regular checks to ensure bottles are filled to the correct volume and sealed properly.
- Visually inspect products for defects, such as damaged bottles or misaligned labels.
- Report any product quality issues or equipment malfunctions to the Production Supervisor immediately.
Maintenance and Cleaning:
- Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of the filling line and surrounding work area.
- Conduct basic preventative maintenance checks on machinery.
- Assist in changing out product types or bottle sizes by adjusting the line and its components.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all health and safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations to prevent product contamination.
- Report any safety concerns or incidents to the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma in Food Processing, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a manufacturing or food processing environment.
- Basic knowledge of filling line machinery and automation systems
- Knowledge of food safety and quality standards such as HACCP and ISO 22000.
- Membership with a recognized professional regulatory body
- Experience with filling and packaging equipment is a distinct advantage.
