The Reformed Church in Zambia is a faith-based organization whose mandate is to meet human needs holistically in her quest to faithfully serve God. The Church is presently implementing a Church in Community (CnC) project which is aimed at improving the Economic well-being of the Church and the community through faith and actions.

This project is being implemented with the major aim of having “A Transformed Church Serving a Transformed Community.”

The Reformed Church in Zambia – Church in Community, therefore, is looking for Suitably Qualified individuals to feel the following positions to be based in Chipata and work across the implementing areas of the program.

1. Gender Officer

2. Livelihood Officer

3. Nutrition Officer

These staff will be reporting to the RCZ Church in Community Coordinator.

Below are the Positions, duties and responsibilities of the Staff:

1. Gender Officer

Job Title: Gender Officer

Below are the duties and responsibilities.

Monitor day to day implementation of the project in all the community and Network with the MCDSS to leverage resources.
Contribute to strategic guidance for the strengthening of RCZ work in the communities.
Promote and support the dissemination of gender related Program information among the program team and stakeholders.
Organizing and conducting meeting with partners, local government and other stakeholders.
To ensure the Justice programs and activities are using advice and learning from national sources.
Coordinate and support local implementing communities on all aspects of Justice.
Network and link with national and international organizations working on Justice in the district and province.
Participate in Gender Justice-related events (meeting, workshops, and conferences) and network within the country in-order to stay updated about gender related development.
To ensure that opportunities for learning, best practice and dissemination are documented and used.
Ensure that reports for specific tasks, audiences or donors are submitted on time.
Ensuring that best practice on justice and Gender practices from local and national sources is used in activities.
Ensuring documentation of successes in the project activities is disseminated locally and nationally.
Support in writing stories related to programme and project developments as they relate to gender equality issues.
As a member of RCZ Church in Community team, work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure advocacy, mainstreaming, M & E and excellence within RCZ work.
Participating actively in team planning and other meetings, working to set common objectives and goals and striving to ensure these are successfully achieved.
Ensuring the participation in GRZ and other relevant committees within project areas that could contribute to bring effective result at project level.
Ensuring the best practices are captured, documented and disseminated at project level.
Help in date collection, compiling lessons learned, establishing indicators to support knowledge sharing.
The Gender Officer is responsible to the RCZ Church in Community Coordinator. Timely program implementation through effective team working resource management, and contribution to RCZ programs are the main areas of assessing performance
Qualifications for the Gender Officer

1) Diploma or above with courses relevant to understanding gender theory and programming work and/or behavioural economics/community development.

2) At least 2 years’ work experience exposure to gender mainstreaming participatory rural appraisal tools, stand-alone initiatives or research.

3) Dynamic facilitator with experience designing and delivering training for people with low literacy levels.

4) Demonstrable ability to develop and implement gender transformative results outcomes.

5) Experience of working in an NGO or FBO would be an advantage

Other Requirements

1) Analytical, pragmatic, and proactive personality

2) Strong communication and interpersonal skills

3) Experience in mixed methods gender analysis

4) Experience facilitating trainings on gender justice and gender mainstreaming.

5) Experience in monitoring and evaluation, and the collection of sex-disaggregated data.

6) Ability to deliver high-quality and though-through work under time-pressure

7) Familiarity with small-scale agriculture and rural settings

8) Ability and/or willingness to ride a motorbike

9) Fluency in Nyanja shall be an added advantage

2. Livelihood Officer

Job Title: Livelihood Officer

Duties and responsibilities of the Livelihood officer.

Improved income through savings groups and income generation activities
Conduct awareness meetings in Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA) in communities.
Train selected individuals/Volunteers from participating communities on VSLA best practices and methodologies.
Support the formation and orientation of savings groups in the communities.
Train and support VSLA on the methodology and best practices of savings groups.
Support CnC Congregation committees’ and groups in their monthly or quarterly review and planning meetings.
Facilitate and support community planning meetings for groups and communities to know their priority plans.
Conduct quarterly review and planning meetings with VSLA facilitators on progress Savings groups.
Support share outs for savings groups in the communities.
Qualifications Required for the Livelihood Officer

Diploma in Social Work, Community Development, psychology, Business Administration and/or other related social science field.
Computer literate (MS Word, Ms Excel, Ms PowerPoint and Internet)
Know or willing to learn how to ride a motorbike.
2 years of progressive working experience in the design, management and implementation of projects and programs and/or working in project related area.
Previous experience in donor funded programs for an NGO, governmental institution or donor organization.
Experience in managing a multi-disciplinary team, strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.
Team management
Able or willing to ride a motorbike.
Fluent in Nyanja and English.
Decision making skills and ability to work under minimum supervision.
3. Nutrition Officer

Job Title: Nutrition Officer

Duties and responsibilities of the Livelihood officer.

To lead and support nutrition mapping and awareness in communities.
Develop, plan and implement health and nutrition programs, ensuring they align with national guidelines and best practices.
Conduct train for new CHVs and provide necessary support to them.
Participate in nutrition coordinating meetings organised by CnC and other partners at community and district level.
Conduct trainings for households in diverse agriculture (using CA) and distribution of inputs for vegetable gardens.
Organise and facilitate Quarterly review and planning meetings with CHVs.
Track program progress, asses its impact and make adjustment as needed to optimize outcomes.
Provide collaboration with health workers, community health volunteers and other stakeholders involved in program implementation.
Conduct Community Based Growth Monitoring and Promotion of Child Health weeks.
Organise and support cooking demonstrations with care group in the communities.
Identify and address challenges in program implementation, such as logistical, capacity and resources.
Promote and advocate for policies that support health and nutrition at community level.
Prepare regular reports on program activities, outcomes, challenges and communicate effectively with various stakeholders, partners and the community.
Qualifications Required for the Nutrition Officer

Diploma in Public health, Nutrition and/or any other related field is generally required.
Computer literate (MS Word, Ms Excel, Ms PowerPoint and Internet)
Know or willing to learn how to ride a motorbike.
