Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer to ensure strict compliance with safety regulations on our mining site. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing HSE policies and procedures to create a safe working environment and prevent accidents and injuries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and monitor all HSE policies, procedures, and programs on the mine site.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
  • Ensure compliance with Zambian mining safety regulations and international best practices.
  • Organize and lead daily toolbox talks and weekly safety meetings with site personnel.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and prepare detailed reports with corrective actions.
  • Maintain HSE documentation, including registers, permits, and inspection records.
  • Deliver HSE induction and ongoing training to employees and contractors.
  • Promote a strong safety culture across all levels of the operation.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • NEBOSH certification or equivalent is a strong added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience as an HSE Officer in a mining or heavy industrial environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of Zambian mining safety regulations (e.g., MISA, Mines and Minerals Act).
  • Excellent communication, training, and report-writing skills.
  • Strong observational and analytical skills.

General Requirements:

  • Must be safety-conscious and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work under pressure and enforce rules diplomatically.
  • Must be based in Solwezi or willing to relocate immediately.
