We are looking for an exceptional Head of Marketing, PR & Communications to lead this next chapter.
JOB BRIEF
This is not a traditional marketing role. You will be responsible for repositioning eShandi in the market, building brand trust, and driving aggressive growth across all digital and offline channels.
You will lead:
- Brand strategy
- Public relations and reputation management
- Digital marketing and content
- Customer engagement and storytelling
This role requires someone who is both strategic and hands-on, with the ability to execute at speed.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Brand & Reputation Management
- Lead the repositioning of eShandi as a trusted and go-to fintech brand
- Develop and execute trust-building campaigns
- Manage brand perception across all platforms
2. PR & Communications
- Develop and implement a proactive PR strategy
- Manage media relationships and press coverage
- Lead crisis communications and reputation management
- Draft and oversee key communications (press releases, statements, speeches)
3. Digital Marketing & Growth
- Own and execute the digital marketing strategy across: LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, X and YouTube
- Drive aggressive growth in followers, engagement, and brand visibility
- Oversee paid media, performance marketing, and campaign execution
4. Content & Storytelling
- Build and lead a high-performing content engine
- Oversee creation of: Video content (Reels, TikTok-style); Founder-led content; Customer stories and testimonials
- Ensure consistent, high-quality brand messaging
5. Leadership & Execution
- Build and manage a marketing and communications team
- Work closely with the CEO and executive team
- Align marketing with business growth objectives
Ideal Candidate Profile
We are looking for a builder and operator, not just a strategist
Qualifications:
- 8–12+ years’ experience in Marketing, PR, or communications
- Proven experience in fintech, banking, telco, or high-growth startups
- Strong experience in digital marketing and content strategy
- Demonstrated success in brand building and repositioning
- Experience managing PR, media and crisis communications
Key Traits:
- Strategic thinker + hands-on executor
- Strong storytelling and communication skills
- Comfortable working in high-pressure, fast-paced environments
- Data-driven and results-oriented
- Highly creative and innovative
Bonus Experience (Highly Desirable)
- Experience in turnaround or crisis situations
- Experience scaling a brand in Africa
- Strong personal brand or content presence
- Experience working with regulators or financial services communications
