We are seeking a dedicated, sober, and proactive Health and Safety Officer to join our Mazabuka team.
ROLE SUMMARY
The Health and Safety Officer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety systems at the Mazabuka branch. The role ensures full compliance with Zambian occupational health and safety regulations, promotes a strong safety culture, and protects the wellbeing of all employees, customers, and stakeholders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, implement, and review the branch OHS management system and policies
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments across all work areas
- Investigate workplace incidents, near-misses, and accidents; prepare detailed reports and corrective actions
- Facilitate safety inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing staff training programmes
- Ensure compliance with Zambia's Occupational Health and Safety Act and all relevant regulations
- Maintain accurate OHS records, registers, and documentation
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and manage statutory OHS reporting obligations
- Identify hazards specific to tyre service operations and implement effective controls
- Champion a proactive safety culture across all levels of the branch
- Monitor the use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Prepare and submit monthly health and safety reports to branch management
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) — REQUIRED
- Degree in OHS or a related field — Added Advantage
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in an OHS role
- At least 1 year of experience in the tyre service or automotive industry — Added Advantage
- Proficient knowledge of Zambian OHS legislation and best practices
- Strong report writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Computer literate (MS Office Suite)
- Sober, reliable, self-motivated, and proactive in approach to safety
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must be ready to commence employment immediately upon appointment
