Zamfluorspar limited is one of the leading mining company in Zambia with its core activities in the mining and exploration of fluorite minerals.

The company was incorporated on the 10th of February 2015. The Fluorspar (calcium fluoride) produced in Zambia by Zamfluorspar, is largely exported to major industrial markets for use in steel, aluminum, and chemical industries. Key destination countries include the Netherlands, Italy, the United States, China, India, and regional partners like Lesotho.The mining operations are done in the southern part of Zambia in Siavonga Sianyolo Area.

The Company is now Recruiting for the following position HEAVY DUTY TECHNICIAN/ MECHANIC.

The Company is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill this vacancy.The Ideal and prospective Heavy Duty Technician / Mechanic should be the one who is specialized in diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and overhauling large machinery and diesel-powered vehicles, such as construction equipment,Earth moving machinery like mining equipment, and transport trucks such as dump trucks or Tipper trucks. He should work both on camp site and directly on field job sites to ensure machinery remains safe and operational. The Heavy-duty mechanics perform a wide range of tasks to ensure the reliability of equipment at the mine site.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose Faults: Use computerized diagnostic tools, multimeters, and hand tools to identify electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical malfunctions.
  • Maintenance: Perform preventative maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, lubricating parts, and fluid checks.
  • Repairs and Overhauls: Repair or replace broken, worn, or defective components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, hydraulic pumps, and final drives.
  • Field Service: Travel to job sites to perform emergency repairs, often in remote or adverse weather conditions.
  • Inspections: Conduct regular safety inspections to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all repairs, maintenance, time spent, and parts used in work orders.
  • Fabrication: Perform welding and fabrication to repair or modify parts.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Education: A high school diploma or GED is required, along with completion of an apprenticeship program, vocational training, or certification as a heavy equipment mechanic (e.g., Red Seal Certification).
  • Experience: Proven work experience, typically 3–5 years, with heavy diesel engines and machinery.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and pneumatic tools.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency with diagnostic software and computerized testing tools.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy parts (often 50–75+ lbs), work in awkward positions, and work on your feet for long periods.
  • Licensing: A valid driver's license, often a Commercial Driver's License, is an added advantage as required.

Typical Working Conditions

  • Work Environment: Repair Workshop, on-site construction areas, mines, or forestry sites. Environments can be loud, dirty, and dusty.
  • Safety: Requires strict adherence to safety protocols (e.g., OSHA/MSHA) and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Common Equipment Serviced

  • Construction: Bulldozers, excavators, loaders, cranes, graders.
  • Mining/Off-Highway: Heavy haul trucks, underground mining equipment.
  • Transportation: Semi-trucks, trailers and Dumpers.
