IT Specialist (Betting Industry Experience Required)
Betta1 is seeking a highly skilled and experienced IT professional with proven experience in the betting industry to join our team as IT Specialist. The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience managing betting platforms, retail POS systems, and high-volume transaction environments.
Job Overview
The IT Specialist will oversee the company’s IT infrastructure, betting systems, and digital platforms to ensure maximum uptime, security, regulatory compliance, and seamless operations across online and retail betting channels.
Key Responsibilities
1. IT Infrastructure & Systems Management
- Oversee installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, databases, and networks.
- Ensure high availability and performance of betting platforms, website, and mobile applications.
- Manage hardware and software procurement, licensing, installations, and upgrades.
2. Betting Systems & Platform Support
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to online betting platforms.
- Liaise with platform providers, developers, and vendors to ensure smooth operations.
- Implement system upgrades and new features in line with business needs.
3. Data Security & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with IT, data protection, and gaming regulatory requirements.
- Develop and enforce cybersecurity policies and disaster recovery plans.
- Conduct regular system audits, penetration tests, and risk assessments.
4. Vendor & Budget Management
- Manage relationships with external IT service providers and technology partners.
- Prepare and monitor the IT department budget.
5. Innovation & Business Support
- Identify and implement new technologies to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.
- Provide regular IT performance and analytics reports to management.
6. Licensing & Legal Compliance
- Manage company IT-related licensing processes and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Provide quarterly compliance reports and strategic updates.
Key Performance Areas
- 99.9%+ uptime for betting platforms, website, and mobile applications.
- Zero major data breaches or regulatory non-compliance findings.
- High POS and retail system uptime across all outlets.
- Timely resolution of IT support tickets with strong end-user satisfaction.
- Vendor SLA compliance and continuous system improvements.
Minimum Requirements
Education & Professional Qualifications
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Degree in Information Technology or related field
- Valid membership with the Information and Communications Technology Association of Zambia (ICTAZ)
Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ work experience in IT.
- Mandatory: Proven experience working in the betting or gaming industry.
- Experience managing betting systems and transaction-heavy platforms.
Technical Knowledge
- Networking (LAN, WAN, VPN, Firewalls)
- Databases (MySQL, SQL Server or similar)
- Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure or similar)
- Cybersecurity protocols and compliance standards
Key Competencies
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced betting environment
- High integrity and commitment to data security
- Strong leadership and project management skills
- Customer-focused with a continuous improvement mindset
Work Environment
